Privacy notice
How we handle your information
Off The Clock (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This notice explains what personal information this website collects, why, and the rights you have under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who is responsible
The responsible party is [legal name of the person or company that runs Off The Clock], [physical address]. Our Information Officer is [name], reachable at [email address].
2. What we collect
- Newsletter: your email address, when you subscribe.
- Enquiry form: your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message.
- Clock-out check: nothing. Your answers stay in your browser and are never stored or sent to us.
- Browsing: this site uses no advertising or analytics cookies. It stores one small flag in your browser for the length of your visit so the opening animation doesn’t replay. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security.
3. Why we use it
- To send you the newsletter you asked for (based on your consent — you can withdraw it any time with the unsubscribe link).
- To reply to your enquiry about guests, speaking, partnerships or the book.
- To keep the website secure and working.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for anything you wouldn’t reasonably expect.
4. Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers (“operators” under POPIA) to run the site and our email: [newsletter provider, e.g. Mailchimp], [form provider, e.g. Netlify Forms] and [website host]. Some of them may store information outside South Africa. Where that happens, we only use providers bound by adequate data-protection laws or agreements, as POPIA requires.
5. How long we keep it
Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries are kept for [e.g. 12 months] after we last correspond, unless we need them longer for a booking or agreement.
6. Your rights
You may ask us to confirm what information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to stop using it. You can also object to direct marketing at any time. Contact our Information Officer at [email address].
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.
7. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and we take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please don’t send sensitive information through the enquiry form.
8. Changes
We may update this notice. The date at the top shows the latest version.
